Type Test Certification

Type Test Certification

Type Test Certificates are critical documents for project and operational safety, issued only after a component has been successfully tested under defined conditions in accordance with internationally recognized standards. These certificates prove that the product functions correctly not only on paper but also under real load, climatic, and electrical stresses.

For MT Energy, Type Test Certificates are fundamental proof of quality, confirming the technical excellence, suitability, and long-term performance of connection elements used in transmission lines. This provides investors, EPC contractors, and operators with assurance regarding the design, material, and manufacturing quality of the component even before the commissioning phase.

What Does a Type Test Confirm?

  • Mechanical strength: Tensile, shear, and bending tests on suspension/tensioning assemblies, clamps, and intermediate fittings; safety factors.
  • Electrical behavior: Contact resistance, heating (temperature rise), short-circuit resistance; corona and RIV evaluations (depending on voltage class and requirements).
  • Vibration and fatigue: Aeolian vibration, sub-clearance oscillations, and fatigue tests, especially for Stockbridge dampers and spacer products.
  • Corrosion and coating: Hot-dip galvanizing thickness, adhesion, and salt spray/corrosion tests; surface protection continuity.
  • Dimensional accuracy: Critical dimensions, tolerances, go/no-go gauge checks, and assembly repeatability.
  • Material verification: Chemical composition, hardness, and microstructure checks (depending on the product family).

Note: The test plan is customized according to the product family, voltage level (154/220/380/500 kV), bundle structures, and project specifications. References are IEC 61284 (fittings), IEC 61897 (damper), IEC 61854 (spacer), and relevant EN/IEEE/ASTM documents (expanded as required by the project).
